Submission Guidelines for Your True Experience
As many of you know, I previously worked for Examiner.com as their first Paranormal Examiner. While I worked there I had a feature where I allowed people to send in their original true personal experiences that dealt with psychic, paranormal, spiritual and other metaphysical topics. I’ve decided to continue this feature with the new design of A Psychic Haven. Since I’m also an author, and previously owned a small press, I do have a few rules and guidelines for you to follow when submitting your true experience for possible inclusion on this site.
While I will do my best to approve as many submissions as I can, not all submissions will fit the guidelines to make it acceptable for publication on APsychicHaven.com. I reserve the right to edit, reword, and add text to, correct misspelled words and grammatical mistakes, change the title or refuse any submission for any reason. However, I will not rewrite your submission.
Depending upon the volume of submissions sent in it may take up to two weeks for your submission to appear on the website if it is accepted for publication on my site. All submissions will be considered in the order received.
When submitting:
Write to your best ability. My site gets a lot of traffic so many people will read your experience. Check for spelling errors, punctuation, etc prior to submitting. If the story is confusing, then there is a chance it will not be accepted. If I have questions, I’ll write and ask you about it before deciding whether or not the experience will be published on APsychicHaven.com. I am also not obligated to contact visitors who submit poorly written or confusing experiences for consideration.
The following are featured sections of my website which will get many page views: True Psychic Experiences, True Paranormal Experiences, True Spiritual Experiences and Other True Metaphysical Experiences. When you submit your experience, you are going through a publication process so let your voice shine through when you tell about your experience.
Do not plagiarize someone else’s work. I’m an author, have been a publisher and plagiarism is in violation of copyright law and will not be tolerated. If you plagiarize, you will be banned from the website.
Do not make up fake stories. These should be first hand true experiences – your experiences – not fictional or third party experiences. Your experience should be of a substantial length. Two sentences aren’t enough and I will not approve publication of very short submissions.
Put your entire experience on the form. Please don’t submit the form multiple times with different parts of the experience. It’s a good idea to write up your story on your computer prior to entering it on the submission form. That way you can check for problems prior to posting. Remember to write it up and then read it again a while later prior to submitting. You’ll often find mistakes that you didn’t see before.
Do not divulge personal information in your experience that could make it easy for someone to find you. The internet is full of predators and should you submit an experience with such information it will not be accepted.
All sections required on the submission form must be completed. If you don’t give a valid email address, I can’t contact you.
A note to authors: When you’re submitting an experience for inclusion on my site, please understand that you may not agree with some of the feedback you receive in the comments section. Do not take this personally but understand that this is simply part of discussing the experience. I will not allow posts that don’t meet my Terms of Service but you must understand prior to submitting that you may not agree with other people’s comments about what you have experienced. If you think this will bother you, hurt your feelings or upset you in any way then it’s probably not be a good idea to submit to the site.
You certify by submitting your experience that you are telling your true, first-hand experience. Your submission signifies agreement to the Terms of Service and you agree to grant a royalty-free, transferable, perpetual license to publicly display your submission on APsychicHaven.com. I may or may not publish your story or promote it to the media at my own discretion. This includes featured articles in newspapers, magazines news stories and other media representations in print. I may also choose to include many of the submissions in an anthology in the future and if I do, by submitting your story you are giving me permission to include your submission in any future print anthology.
Once experiences are published, they cannot be deleted from the website. By submitting your experience you grant APsychicHaven.com the right to pursue anyone who copies your submission on another website. APsychicHaven.com is not responsible for replacing true experiences which may be lost due to server errors or malfunction. I reserve the right to update these guidelines at any time without notice.
Additional Submission Guidelines:
- Do not use your real name unless you are willing to make it public.
- CC yourself on the form below AND keep a copy of your experience for your own records.
- Do not include names of other people, street names and other sensitive information that would allow someone to find you. You can write the event without using these things and it will still be as meaningful to my readers.
- Make your title stand out. The Haunted Basement is a much better title than “Help Me!” or “Could my basement be haunted?” If the title is weak then I reserve the right to change it.
